At Somerset Hills State School we pride ourselves in creating purposefully connected curriculum units that are fully aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Our teachers are highly knowledgeable about the demands of the Australian Curriculum and with this in mind, develop all units with an explicit focus on reading, writing and numeracy. Students at our school can expect to be taught engaging units that are developed with the students' interests in mind.
From Prep to Year 6, students develop knowledge and skills in the following areas of the Australian Curriculum:
- English
- Maths
- Science
- Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS)
- Technologies
- The Arts
- Health and Physical Education (HPE)
- Languages of than English (LOTE)
Reporting and Parents Teacher Interviews
A written Student Report of a student's progress will be issued twice per year, usually at the end of each semester for all students from Prep to Year 6. Education Queensland requires all schools to use similar processes, formats and grades for reporting student achievement and effort to parents. The report is only one of a number of strategies used by the school to communicate with parents throughout the year, and parent-teacher interviews will also be offered to discuss your child's performance and progress.
