Swimming Lessons

Our Health and Physical Education program is an integral part of our H.P.E Curriculum requiring students to participate in swimming lessons during Term 1 and 4. All students are also expected to participate in the school’s Swimming Carnival in Term 4. Swimming will commence in the second week of Term 1 and students must have the following clearly named items; a swim bag with: one-piece bathers/board shorts, rash vest/swim shirt, swimming cap and towel. Goggles and ear plugs are optional.

Sunscreen is provided to all classes to apply prior to lesson time. Jewellery must NOT be worn in the pool.

We need to be aware of any physical and/or medical conditions that may impair a student’s capacity to engage safely in swimming. Children will be excluded from any swimming activity if they suffer from infections, suppurating sores or suspected contagions.

Queensland Health’s “Code of Practice for the Control of Cryptosporidium and Giardia in Swimming Pools, Leisure Pools, Spas and Hydrotherapy Pools” recommends that any person who has or has had diarrhoea in the previous 14 days, should not enter a swimming pool. Should this apply to your child it is in everybody’s best interests that the affected person does not enter the swimming pool. Please send a note to your child’s teacher excusing your child from swimming in this case. We seek your cooperation in complying with this health precaution.

Students will be excluded from swimming until we receive signed notice. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the office on 3624 2222
